HI Melodyama,

There are a lot of things to see in Kerala. Kerala is absolutely a fun-filled destination to spend your holidays. The #1 thing you can see in Kerala is the beautiful hill station ‘Munnar’.

Munnar is considered as the queen of hill stations in Kerala and to escape from scorching summer there is no other better travel option. The amidst greenery of the sprawling tea gardens will be a refreshment for your mind. The way to Munnar itself is really gorgeous where you can witness small and large waterfalls. Choose Kerala tour packages with price in order to find out the rate of different packages to reach Kerala.

Places to Visit in Munnar

  • Eravikulam National Park

This national park is one of the major trekking destinations in Munnar. Upon reaching the park, the bus of tourism department takes you to the mountain. From the bottom, you can reach the top of the hill by trekking. On the way to the top Nilgiri Tahrs, waterfalls etc can be seen.  On the way, the Anamudi peak was visible which the highest peak in South India.

  • Kolkkumalai Hills

Kolkkumalai Hills is the highest tea plantation in the world which is at a height of about 7900 feet above the sea level. The sunrise from Kolukkumalai is like nothing we have ever seen. Top of this hill offers splendid views of the Munnar and tea gardens. Bumpy jeep trekking is used to reach the top. The trekking is really adventurous.

  • Tata Tea Museum

Here you can learn the history of tea and also we can see the entire making of tea from the tea leaves. A number of tea varieties, original fresh chocolates etc can be bought from this museum. The museum actually acts as a tribute to initial planters who converted the Munnar hill station into an epicenter of the tea factory.

Oct 10, 11:52AM EDT0

Hi, Richa,

Kerala is well known for its mouthwatering traditional delicacies. The tiny land offers a multitude of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. As the name suggests Kerala is the land of coconuts. Most of the cuisines contain coconut as a main ingredient. Ginger, Garlic, Green Chilly, Coconut oil, Coconut milk, curry leaves mustard seeds; asafetida, pepper and turmeric are the frequently used ingredients in the preparation of Kerala cuisines. Here are some of the most popular cuisines of Kerala,

It is the most delicious and traditional one contains almost 20 items with desserts like Payasam.  Sadya is used as a lunch time food for special occasions.

It is one of the most commonly used food item in Kerala. With Kappa (Tapioca) a plentiful preparations are available. Kappa and Fish curry combination is the best you must try during your Kerala trip.  Lot of foreigners prefers to taste this awesome delicacy during their House boat cruise.

Thalassery Biriyani

Malabar is the center tremendous non-vegetarian dishes and sweets. Biriyani is an all type favorite food of almost all people. But come to place to place the taste differs. Thalassery Biriyani is one of the tastiest one you should try out.

Other than this there are wide arrays of dishes that will thrill your taste buds. Kaya nirachath, Pazhampori, Kozhikodan Halwa,  Puttu and Kadala, Appam and Egg curry,Idiyappam, and Unniyappam etc.

Your next question is about the dazzling backwaters. Kerala has lots of geographical specialties. It is located in between the Arabian Sea to the west and Western Ghats to the east. The backwaters are formed by the action of waves and shore currents creating barrier islands across the rivers flowing from Western Ghats. Kerala has a large chain of backwaters. Alleppey, Kumarakom, Kollam, Thiruvallam and Kochi are some of the famous backwater destinations.

Thanks for your question. I think this will help you.
